Visioning Lab is pleased to release a new augmented reality campaign, ‘Closer to my Dreams’, an experience made by freelance producer Jane Compton, aka Switchflicker. This trail will take you on a binaural walkabout dance performance set at the Whitworth Art Gallery.
Closer To My Dreams is a playful, heartfelt and unique take on family and friendship. It traces the relationships, connections and disconnections of a group of friends expressed through Chad Taylor’s distinctive hip hop choreography and will take place in August 2022.
This project was one of nine digital initiatives created as part of the Creative England funded Ideate programme aimed at freelance creative or cultural producers in Greater Manchester. The six week course, led by Visioning Lab Director Jessica Symons and supported by Software Developer Roxanne Yates and Media Coordinator Ellie Andrews, helped participants design their AR campaigns, from conception through to delivery.
Visioning Lab, founded by Jessica, is a creative digital studio South Manchester, specialising in augmented reality and other emerging technologies. They design cultural experiences such as soundwalks and 3D digital artwork. They recently launched PopupView, a platform for showing augmented reality experiences.
This new experience can be used from the comfort of your own home. To do this simply find the trigger images on the Popup View website and use the app to select the ‘Closer to my Dreams’ campaign. For here you can point your phone at the images and reveal the 3D pop up.
